Seven chefs and four suppliers tour Europe’s biggest food market.
In late February 2015 we took seven of the south west’s leading chefs to Rungis Market. Our guide was Eddie Bowers who has worked in Rungis for many years.
Rungis is Europe’s largest food market covering some 573 acres, the fruit and veg section alone is ten times the size of New Covent Garden.
The Suppliers: @EdBowersBurbank, @totalbristol, @Totalcornwall, @totalcharlie
The Chefs: @Adrian_Margots, @cornishkitchen, @babyfacedez, @jamiecolemanuk, @Stoveman110, @Johnhookerchef, @Chefmpalmer
The Chanteur: @marcfichel
One of the great joys of visiting Rungis is running in to old chums like Marc Fichel. Marc is Director of Export at Rungis wholesaler Solpom but in his other life he’s a rising star of the French music scene. Below is his terrific tune about life in the market, C’est Ma Vie Dans Les Halles.
As you would expect there was a deal of Twitter action, here’s some of it.
